7 SECONDS ARRIVED TO BLOW UP HARDCORE IN ABASTO

August 9th, Uniclub

Kevin Seconds’ band returned after a decade in which thousands of things happened, both good and bad. It seems like they’ve been fully engaged in these ten years, because they gave a hell of a show. A very Arlequines circa 93 atmosphere greeted us, and the opening band was none other than Corazón Fuego, who wove songs by two national pillars of hardcore, Diferentes Actitudes Juveniles and Buscando Otra Diversión. Being able to hear songs as representative of the scene as “Buenos Aires Hardcore” and the help of a singer like Leila is an event impossible not to highlight.

7 Seconds‘ performance is tremendous from the first chord. It’s a constant flow from start to finish, an energy level that never drops. And they owe a lot of that to that beast behind the drums, shaking and playing like a demon. His name is Sammy Siegler, and he’s played in bands like Youth of Today and the Gorilla Biscuits. When Kevin announces the first song (“Here’s Your Warning,” from the seminal album “The Crew”), the crowd begins a frenzy that doesn’t stop until the end. The songs are archetypal HC, pure speed and message. They only need a few seconds (some less than a minute) to make their point clear.

They played songs from all their albums (“Regress No Way,” “Not Just Boys Fun,” “Satyagraha,” “Walk Together, Rock Together”—sung all the way—the anthem “Young ‘Til I Die”), and the set ended with the 80s classic “99 Red Balloons” by German band Nena (originally titled “99 Luftballons”).

With almost 20 songs in just 40 minutes, it was enough to satisfy everyone. But they wanted to go out with a little more fire, and they threw in a killer duo: “You Lose” and “Trust” (both from the aforementioned “The Crew”) to round off a night of pure hardcore adrenaline.
