Cemetery Skyline and Hallas In Argentina, a night of pure darkness and perfect sound
Sept 13th, Uniclub Argentina
Last Saturday we had the pleasure of enjoying a rock night with 2 incredible bands, Cemetery Skyline and HÄLLAS!
With some delay, it was the turn of the Swedes HÄLLAS opening with “Birth / Into Darkness”.
How this band sounds live! Impeccable, clean, and polished, with rich instrumentation and the atmosphere that characterizes the band.
Of course, the audience was excited, even surprised by what this band can deliver live.
Going through the band’s greatest hits, the most chanted moment of the night arrived with “Carry On”; Tommy’s voice, along with his bass, transports us to another dimension.
It was time to close out these guys’ great show with the eponymous song “Hällas,” leaving the audience feeling high and satisfied!
Something worth highlighting was that, as they said their final goodbyes to the audience, a rather peculiar, extravagant, and also dissonant version of “Star Rider” played in a cumbia version. A bizarre but fun moment at the same time!
SETLIST:
Birth/Into Darkness, Stygian Depths, Repentance, Earl’s Theme, Shadow of the Templar, Tear of a Traitor, Labyrinth of Distant Echoes, Carry On, The Golden City of Semyra, Star Rider, Fading Hero, The Astral Seer, Hällas.

And now, Yes!, the Finnish-Swedish super group Cemetery Skyline composed of Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity, The Halo Effect) with his wonderful voice. At his side, Markus Vanhala (Insomnium) with those riffs that make us shudder, Santeri Kallio (Amorphis) on the keyboards with cinematic sounds. Victor Brandt (Dimmu Borgir, Witchery), conquering with his bass and Vesa Ranta (Sentenced) on the drums, with a clean and hard percussion, took the stage to make the audience vibrate!
Starting with “Behind the Lie”, from the first song, we noticed the absolute perfection of this band. Less than a year after their creation, we can tell they have a power, energy, and professionalism that comes from members of other great bands!
After going through several incredible songs that kept the fans energized and excited throughout the show, one of my favorite songs arrived, “Never Look Back.” What a song! Obviously, the vast majority of us sang this hit at full steam ahead!
The constant connection between the band and the fans was beautifully evident. It felt like a band that had been around for years, with a solid group of fans supporting every song live.
When it came to “Violent Storm,” we all thought it would be the end of the show with this song that would leave us all feeling very high, but it wasn’t. They closed with “Alone Together,” the only criticism I have of the band, as it’s a very beautiful song, but too calm to close the concert.
Aside from that minor criticism, the band sounded incredible; they gave it their all and more! Proving that Cemetery Skyline is not a passing project, but an authentic project, with its own identity and a bright future.
SETLIST:
Behind the Lie, Torn Away, The Darkest Night, Anomalie, The Coldest Heart, Never Look Back, When Silence Speaks, Nothing From This World, I Drove All Night (Roy Orbison cover), In Darkness, Konevitsan kirkonkellot ([traditional] cover), Violent Storm, Alone Together.
