Pierce the Veil and The Used in Concert, Arizona
Sunday, July 2nd, at Arizona Financial Theater on Phoenix AZ by Live Nation, hosted Pierce the Veil, The Used, Don Broco, and girlfriends
Arizona Financial Theater was the place to be before all parties kicked off for the 4th of July. Having Pierce The Veil and The Used in any lineup meant it was either going to sell out or come close to it. The line was around the entire venue. As they all started to finally make it into the venue, you could tell this was going to be quite a night. The merchandise line was so long that it went up the main stairs and well into the balcony section on the second floor.
I’ve never personally seen The Used, yet I’ve been a huge fan of them since their first album. I’ve always heard good things about their live shows, so I was extremely excited when I finally got to see them. As I made my way down the stairs to the stage. You could see their giant banner with all of their equipment rigged with white, red, and pink flowers on it. The Used cars were everything I imagined they would be. They’re all passionate musicians whose music and lyrics cut deep and make you feel heard. Seeing them live is no different, and from the crowd’s reaction, it was clear the impact this band had had on so many lives over the years. Bert MacCracken is quite the character, coming out in a McQueen backpack and multiple styles of sunglasses that he switched out. There were two standout moments during the show: when Bert asked everyone to throw up their middle fingers to the song ‘Fuck You, and then when the singer of Don Broco came out and sang ‘A box full of sharp objects’. There is no other way to say this, but The Used is phenomenal live and lives up to hype!

Pierce The Veil, originally from San Diego, CA, started their career in 2006 at the height of the scene, where they made their mark. The feeling you got before Pierce The Veil went on stage was absolutely electric, as the lights dimmed and their hug banner had their logo shining through it. All you could hear were the massive fans ready for this show. Screaming, crying, and holding up different signs, it actually reminded me of Metallica concerts, and it shows how faithful and true the fans are to Pierce the Veil. I’ve seen a couple acts this year, and I’m going to go on record and say Pierce The Veil is in the top five for putting on a live show, and this is coming from someone who has only listened to them a few times. They’re so in tune with their fan base. The amount of love they show their fans is at the top of their list; there was one person in the crowd with a sign that said 1 tour, 5 shows, 8,38 miles. It has been several years since their last release, so their fan base was beyond anxious when they announced the release of ‘The Jaws of Life’ this year in February.
