“As I Lay Dying” Rocked Phoenix AZ

As I Lay Dying just released two singles in July ‘The cave we fear to enter’ and ‘Burden’. ‘ The Cave we fear to enter’ is slower melodic song, while still maintaining the heaviness. It shows the growth and talent that As I Lay Dying has, and reminds they’re not a one dimensional Metalcore band. ‘Burden’ is the heavier song. This song is dynamic and covers all the aspects from blast beats, to solos, screaming to a catchy chorus. It’s an all around great song .

Thursday August 7th at The Van Buren in Phoenix AZ. As I lay Dying Was one metalcores top bands made a triumphant return. The anticipation was in the air and the venue was packed to the brim. The opening bands were Ethenos, and death core favorites Chelsea Grin.

The last time I saw Tim Lambesis was in 2008 with Austrian Death Machine which I’ll never get enough of. Hopefully he’s cooking a new album with that project! From the opening song ‘Nothing Left’ off ‘An ocean between us’ the venue turned into a battle field. Their were people flying over the barricade the entire time. Kudos to the security at the venue for holding it down and keeping everyone safe! This set list didn’t bring you back to the height of the Metalcore world from 2004 to 2009 then I honestly don’t what would. This set list and concert was nostalgic to say the least. Tim Lambesis and crew still have it and are firing on every cylinder. The Van Buren was chaos, and As I lay dying sounded better than ever. If you weren’t covered in beer, blood or sweat, were you even at the show?

SETLIST:
Nothing Left, Through Struggle, Redefined, Parallels, Condemned, Blinded, Shaped by Fire, 94 Hours, The Darkest Nights, The sound of truth, My own grave, Confined.
