TOKIO HOTEL IN ARGENTINA
Almost 10 years after their last visit, the German pop-rock band TOKIO HOTEL, led by the Kaulitz brothers, returned to Argentina, in an unparalleled show last Saturday, December 14th at C Complejo Art Media.
At 9 pm the lights went out and Tom Kaulitz, Georg Listing, and Gustav Schäfer appeared on stage the audience exploded with screams. A few seconds later the eccentric Bill Kaulitz appeared, starting with “White Lies” from their studio album “2001” (2022)
Generations of listeners were represented from the teenagers, and kids accompanying their parents to the older millennials overcome by nostalgia at the back of the venue.
Continuing with “Automatic” the band’s famous track, which was sung along to by the entire audience.
During the show, we saw Bill‘s wonderful costume changes.
After a resounding sold out, and a lot of children in the crowd, the band was forced to interrupt the concert, worried about the physical integrity of their fans, Bill tried to convince the audience to calm down and take a few steps back, after failing to do so, someone from his staff who spoke in Spanish took the microphone to say that they could not continue like that.
After that small interruption, they resumed with all their energy.
The band slowed things down in the middle as well for an acoustic segment heavy with a medley of emotions.
Then it was time for one of my favorite songs from the band (from my teenage years) “Spring nicht” better known in English as “Don’t Jump”, which we could enjoy in the native language, with the audience singing with all their emotion.
They then continued with “Easy”, “Love Who Loves You Back” and “Darkside of the Sun”, with an audience who did not stop singing and jumping during each song.
After a small encore, the hit most anticipated by all arrived, the celebration of the 17th anniversary of “Monsoon” which we sang with all fervor, and made us a tear to the eyes of the old school fans of the band.
The band ended the night with “Runaways”, closing tour in Argentina with all the energy!
As the editor of SUNRAY in Argentina, I would like to give a special thanks to Tokio Hotel manager David Lang for allowing us to cover the event and being the only accredited media!
