Another glorious day for metalheads had its place in Uniclub again

On the 4th of February, a cloudy summer afternoon showed us the path down Guardia Vieja Street.
At 19 hrs, doors opened for the first fans to come inside. People who showed up early got to see the killer performance ofDisomnia, a local Death Metal/Deathcore band. The four-member band started playing at 19.15 and filled the first minutes of the date with a huge amount of brutality. They brought their own scenography and played along a click track and backing tracks. Things that gave a big sense of professionalism. With their sound and powerful high growls, the night had officially already begun.

The following band was “The Damnnation”, a Brazilian young trio, that already came to Buenos Aires in 2022; a night that they remembered more than once as the show kept going.
Their sound was a kind of old-school Death Metal with a bit of Thrash in it. Formed by Renata on vocals and guitar, Fernanda on bass, and Camila on drums, these girls rocked the stage and quickly earned the love of the crowd.
The trio played along for an hour and they seemed to have a nice time with us, laughing and drinking beer between songs. They even played a new song for the first time for all of us.

The gig started being filled by metalheads, preparing themselves for the next band: Elm Street
This band came from Australia and rocked the place with their 80’s Metal sound, a mix between classic Heavy Metal with Speed and Thrash. More than one person who didn’t know them ended the night falling in love with all their catchy songs. The type of songs that you want to hear when you’re with a beer in your hands just having a good time. As we all did while they were onstage.
If you weren’t 100% convinced by them, they included a “Running Free” cover from “Iron Maiden” to wash away all your doubts.
Everyone in the band seemed to be very very good at their instrument, Ben Batres on vocals and guitar has a unique aggressive voice and his right hand made the riffs sound tight as hell; as well as when he harmonized the licks played by Aaron Adie, the lead guitar player, whose solos have blown everyone’s mind, a virtuous player without a doubt. Nick Ivkovic on bass and Tomislav Perkovic on drums made a powerful wall of low percussive notes that had you shaken the whole set!

The time had come for Nervosa to hit the stage, the band led by Prika Amaral, who plays guitar and now also sings! Eventually, in the show she talked about the fact of being the frontwoman nowadays, after Diva left the band 2 years ago. She formed and led the band for more than a decade, but always standing at the singer’s side, speaking her words by playing furious guitar riffs. Recently she got tired of looking for a new singer and decided to be her solution. And she does pretty damn well! Her voice sounds brutal!

On lead guitar, we have Helena Kotina, the oldest member in this new lineup. Someone who gained the fan’s hearts long ago!
On drums, Gabriela Abud, and Emmelie Herwegh on bass replacing Hel Pyre in the South American tour.
“Seed of Death”, and “Behind the Wall” started the set, where we saw these 4 girls headbanging like there was no tomorrow. The classic song “Death!”, with that unique triplet riff that makes you want to burn the place down (yeah, it’s THAT aggressive!); followed by “Nail the Coffin” and “Kill the Silence” in which Prika encourages us to be brave and always speak against verbal and physical abuse.
“Ungrateful”, “Masked Betrayal” and “Under Ruins” was next on the set. A set on fire.
It was nice to see how people of different ages showed up at the gig. Thrash Metal getting to mix generations to celebrate the 15th anniversary of this amazing band!
The brutality didn’t stop, ’cause we got to hear “Hostages”, “Uranio em Nos” and the powerful track “Kill or Die”, followed by “Into the Moshpit”, “Jailbreak” and “Wayfarer“, where Prika left her guitar and catch the microphone on two hands.
At that time we were heading to the end of the show when Prika introduced us to the band, and every one of then received a big and well-deserved applause from the crowd.
“Guided by Evil” and “Endless Ambition” were the last songs of the night. But after that, the four girls gave the fans an unforgettable moment by taking pictures and signing autographs for every one of them outside the venue.
Nights like this one, with bands like the ones named before, really mark a beautiful memory inside your mind and, when you remember the show, you would always say something like “dammit, that was a good one”.
