BANE, A Hardcore Punk Night, in Buenos Aires
Last Sunday August 11th, after several years “Bane” returned to Argentine soil to demonstrate what Hardcore Punk is, always with its straightedge ideology as the band’s flag, below the stage you could see many people who follow the straightedge movement.
The band started on time with one of their most iconic songs from 1998, the album is called “Holding This Moment.” The song they chose from this album is “Superhero”, with the energy that could be seen as much from above the stage and also from below people came up, they saw “stage diving” with a lot of energy throughout the recital.
They continued playing “Non-negotiable” and “Count Me Out” which this song was finished with some damage to the instruments and Zach played some riffs from “Pantera”, and “Final Backward Glance” This is when both the band and all the who were in “Uniclub” realized that something was happening and in seconds the power went out, something that took more than 45 minutes which caused people to make a lot of chants, rumors that the band will finish the show somewhere else or play the next day in another place if things were not resolved. At that moment Zach was talking to everyone who was in front of the stage and Aaron approached the audience to take photos with everyone who approached, all this happened while the light went off and came back on because there was some problem with some cable that was cut.
After 45 minutes the band returned to the stage and the show continued with “Count Me Out”. When everything was thought to end correctly, two events occurred. First, a fan from below the stage asked Aaron for the microphone to let him know. They had stolen someone’s cell phone and they had to return it because it had tickets and a lot of personal information on it. Aaron took the mic and said “I can’t believe they would interrupt a hardcore show with something like that. We regret and spit on these attitudes, we came to provide a good show! Come on guys, thanks!” And after this, they had another problem with the bass and viola to which they had 5 minutes interrupted again. To close the night they played “Calling Hours” to which a fan came up to sing with the entire band, which at no time with everything that happened failed to give an excellent show.
