Hot Mulligan Rocked Buenos Aires
March 19th at the Bula
Hot Mulligan‘s arrival was long awaited by fans of the band’s first South American tour, and what better way to start than in Argentina, one might say. The visit was in the Almagro neighborhood, at the Bula venue, in the basement. At 7:30 p.m., there were problems with the tickets, and there was a line outside waiting and a lot of anxiety about getting in. The entrance is a bar, and to go down to the basement you have to announce yourself by showing your ticket, and there you could get posters and t-shirts of the band, which many people were able to obtain.
The national band in charge of starting off this night were the boys from Cardinals, a band that recently released their EP. They played the songs while some visuals were played behind them. They also had the opportunity to do some covers, such as “A Day to Remember,” but due to time constraints, they had to remove a song from the setlist. However, they were an excellent band, and many congratulated them on stage.
At around 8:30 p.m., the second band was “Efecto Amalia,” whose set list included images from the internet, this gave the stage a special color the band was divided into three groups on each side, with Hot Mulligan’s drummer on the middle they joked with each other every once in a while they were able to play the entire set list and even had Naza from “El Nueno Once,” also a national band, in the audience.
At the end of the support band, all the Hot Mulligan members were able to settle in, testing their instruments and the crowd greeted them. Something that was noticeable was that the staff members were bringing out the returns they had on stage the show would begin with “Drink Milk And Run,” their 2022 EP.
Between songs, Nathan “Tades” Sanville, the band’s vocalist, wanted to give a clear message we should be grateful to be here and that there is a path to choose he wanted to mark the path he had found, but there were times when the crowd didn’t understand him because they only wanted to hear the full set and would throw out some profanity.
One would think that being the first time they would come with a short show but they played 17 songs for which they went through all the best of the band, at one point they left a box of vitamins on stage which they said was sponsored by “zentro” and which was all laughter except for the person who had lost that box that was full on top, the band at the end of their show headed to the outskirts of Bula to get some air and to be able to share some time with all those who came to greet them.
