Katatonia Rocked Buenos Aires

The Swedish quintet KATATONIA, led by Jonas Renkse, returned to Argentina last Tuesday, November 12, at Groove, after over a year since their previous visit to the country.

Opening the evening the local band FRATER, presented their recent album “Sangre y Viento” with a mix of aggression and melancholy, these guys give it their all, giving a show worthy of admiration.

The time for Katatonia has arrived, with almost 35 years of career, the band took the stage with all their power, the track from the latest album, Sky Void Of Stars, that kicks things off, and ‘Austerity’, they could deliver a set that leaned exceedingly heavily on recent records, leaving behind what was their death metal era, showing us that today they are a progressive metal band.

The frontman Jonas Renkse, with a voice that remains intact over the years, hid behind his own Cousin’s hairstyle for much of the night.

The energy and fervor of the fans grew minute by minute, the songs that made the venue vibrate were “Behind the Blood” and “Birds”.

After a short break, the band returned to the stage to close with the wonderful songs “July” and “Evidence”.

Katatonia is a band that has shown the great consistency they have, despite having noticeably changed the genre since their beginnings, they continue to do wonderful things that leave their fans happy at every show.
