Vola in Buenos Aires: Power, emotion and an unforgettable debut

With a powerful sound, a modern and captivating stage presence, and a total connection with the audience, the Swedish-Danish quartet Vola made the Uniclub stage reverberate on March 13th as part of the South American leg of their “Friend of A Phantom” tour.

For this major show at the Abasto venue, the band, led by guitarist and vocalist Asger Mygind, was joined by the local power trio Carbón, along with Falchi, the instrumental solo project of former Crypta guitarist Jessica Di Falchi. The talented guitarist’s performance was relatively short but powerful, showcasing an interesting and technically proficient approach, combined with the excellent chemistry between all the members. A highlight of their set was a cover of “The Call of Ktulu” by thrash metal titans Metallica.

Around 9:20 pm, Vola’s debut performance in Argentina kicked off with the opening chords of “I Don’t Know How We Got Here,” marking the beginning of a musical odyssey that spanned their four albums and 20-year career. Throughout the show, the audience’s energy was ever-present, especially during songs like “Cannibal,” “24 Light Years,” and “Bleed Out.” The band also took a brief moment during their set to express gratitude and acknowledge the support of their fans, which helped them overcome a difficult setback in November 2025 when all their equipment was destroyed in a fire in Copenhagen.

With that, it was time for the encore, and to close the night, the quintet performed “Tray” and one of the most important tracks in their catalog, “Straight Lines.” The event was organized by Noiseground Productions.
