After exactly a year, The Offspring came back to Buenos Aires to give all their energy as usual and bring some classic Punk Rock tunes.
The last time was on Lollapalooza (first day of 3) at Hipódromo de San Isidro, a huge place in Buenos Aires to make supermassive shows like that. That day, they opened for Blink 182 for the first time in our country.
As I said it was on March 15, the same date that brought them back this year with their “Supercharged Worldwide in ’25” tour. A tour that would bring new songs to their set, from their latest record “Supercharged” released in 2024. An album that mixed perfectly the classic old Punk sound that they had back in the day, and the more modern stuff that made them compose more melodic and less aggressive tunes.

The show took place in Live Arena, a venue far from the Buenos Aires city, that weren’t used for shows for a long time. Maybe 5 or 6 years. It used to be the DirecTV Arena.
The local support band was Mujer Cebra, a young band that made a big name out of them in the last few years, increasing their popularity considerably.

At 9 pm, lights went off and the stage started to put interactive videos as an intermission to make the people enjoy the last minutes of waiting.
The videos had the type of trivia of the band, follow the cup and find the ball inside, karaoke songs, and stuff like that. Very entertaining, I must say.
The last 5 minutes were with a countdown in the video with “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC playing background.

When the countdown reached zero, the band appeared onstage, being welcomed by great applause from the crowd, and started the show with “All I Want”. Dexter just sang this one, without a guitar, as Jonah was playing it. After that, he took his guitar back and they played “Come Out and Play”, followed by “Want You Bad” with that angelical/melodic intro before the song hit the drop with the band.
Every song had its own video on the back, and different details and scenography. Confetti and explosions (special effects) became a common thing in a lot of songs in the night.

“Staring at the Sun” and “Slim Pickens Does the Right Thing and Rides the Bomb to Hell” were the next songs on the setlist, and then was time for a new one: “Looking Out for #1”, the song that opens the last album “Supercharged”, a very great song that made everyone jump at the tempo of the chorus, even if they didn’t know it.
“Hit That” was next, with Jonah giving us that memorable synthesizer lick in the intro. But the song wasn’t played in its entirety; they did some kind of medley with this song and “Original Prankster” that surprised a lot of us.
The next song was a new one too, the single “Make It All Right”, a romantic Punk tune, where two blue skeleton balloons were put at the sides of the stage, for the one on the “Supercharged” album cover.
The Argentinian crowd couldn’t stay quiet, so they started chanting “Olé Olé” for them. They felt overwhelmed and gave a huge thanks to everyone in the venue.

Dexter and Noodles suddenly started joking with each other and playing classic Rock stuff like the “Smoke On the Water” riff, or the one from “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath; there it went “Back in Black” too, and the band played a short heavy version of “In the Hall of the Mountain King”. Dexter makes a joke about how that riffs make look Noodle like a virtuous guitar player.
But, jokes aside, a cover that found its place on the setlist and was performed in its entirety was “Blitzkrieg Bop”, the Ramones hymn.
“Bad Habit” was next, with Dexter again only on vocals. A curious thing was that they stopped the song on the bridge and started saying goodbye, but they took very serious that joke, because they made them look like they were about to leave the stage without ending the song…
But, no haha. Dexter started singing alongside the crowd and the song ended perfectly. Following the stuff from their classic album “Smash” (that turned 30 last year), the next song was “Gotta Get Away”. The band slowly appeared onstage as the song was building up. First Brandon with the drum intro, then Todd with the well-known bass line, and then the 2 guitars with the catchy lick that was sung along by the crowd.

At the end of the song, Brandon started a drum solo. He showed his skills in this one. Just mindblowing how easy he made it look.
A huge sign on the screen appeared saying “Wave your hands”, and “Why Don’t You Get a Job?” started being played, as the crowd filled with beach balls that the band brought to this exact moment on the set.
“(Can’t Get Me) Head Around You” and “Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)” were next, the blue skeletons were removed, and then at the sides, we had two inflatable dolls of the character from the “Pretty Fly…” video.

Time for the ultimate classic “The Kids Aren’t Alright”, with the famous lick sung along by the whole crowd.
After that, they left the stage and waited for the Argentinian call. When fans started chanting on loud, they came back for the encore.
The last two songs on the setlist were “You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid” and “Self Esteem”, two must-played songs in every Offspring show. The night ended with confetti being thrown into the crowd and the band saying goodbye.
None of us expect them to come again in one exact year, but we all hope they don’t take much to do. ‘Cause this show was just amazing.
