¡In Flames return to Buenos Aires to set Teatro Flores on fire!
Alongside bands like At the Gates or Dark Tranquillity, the famous “sound of Gothenburg” became massive around the world. Melodic Death Metal achieved its peak in the 90s, and most of those bands are still in amazing shape, performing constantly and releasing records that maintain the essence of those early years.
In Flames, for example, released “Foregone” in 2023, a record that leaves behind for a moment the evolution the band had along the years, and it focuses more on an old school sound, bringing Melodeath back. A return to the roots, which we all saw coming from the previous record, “I, the Mask”.
The “Foregone” tour already landed in Buenos Aires in 2023, but you can’t have enough of something that good. So, 2026 made them come back to Latin America, continuing the travel of showing the world their latest and most powerful album.
April 19th was the chosen date, and the gig took place at Teatro Flores, a venue that every metalhead in Buenos Aires has a place in their hearts for. That corner has summoned bangers multiple times.
The local band was Bloodparade, who came on stage at 20.30, bringing an amazing show to the first fans to show up. With songs like “Enigmas del Tiempo” and “Hard Feeling,” lots of fans started headbanging from early, and even… dancing? Yes. The Alternative/Industrial Metal sound of the band had a lot of catchy grooves, played on drums by Mariano. Brenda, singer and frontwoman, really knew how to build us up and get in the mood as Thav poured some killer riffs.
At 21.30, every fan started screaming as the lights went off and the curtain opened. The band slowly walked to the stage while a tape was being played. John, on drums, gave us a horn-hand salute, and the setlist started with “Pinball Map”, from the classic album “Clayman”, a fan favourite of the golden age, followed by “The Great Deceiver”, one of the newest tracks.
Anders really knows how to scream like a beast and make your mind blow, and putting that inbetween the crushing guitars from Bjorn and Chris (who came with Megadeth like 10 times before and seemed very happy to return to a place that gave him so much love while onstage) you get an aggressive wall of sound that forces you not to be quiet, you can jump, headbang, get into the circle pit, but you will hardly be on crossed-arms with those guys bringing that amount of intensity!
The show continued with “Deliver Us”, “In The Dark” and “Voices”, all songs from their more recent catalog, but killer tunes as well; followed by “Cloud Connected” and “Trigger”, both from the “Reroute to Remain…” record.
Anders really enjoyed Argentine chants. In fact, there was one time between songs, that the whole band just kept watching the crowd singing, and Anders wanted us to go on and not stop doing it, even said: “I could listen to this all day, I would put it as my alarm tune”.
And of course, let’s talk about Wilson on bass and John on drums (who played for Job for a Cowboy and Behemoth), who built a powerful cape of percussion and low notes that surrounded all the songs; you could feel it in your chest, I swear.
“Only for the Weak” had all of us singing along with the intro guitar riff, and the “Foregone” moment got into the set with “Meet Your Maker” and “State of Slow Decay”. Followed by “Alias” and “The Mirror’s Truth”.
Heading into the final songs, Anders, once again, took a time to show some love to Argentine fans, saying how much he enjoys every time he plays in the country. Something easy to believe when you watch them playing the whole show with a smile on their faces!
The end came with “I Am Above”, the single from “I, the Mask”, and, obviously, “Take This Life”, where everyone left their last energies inside the pit, or singing as loud as they could!
