FOREIGNER, going back to the past in one night!
Last Thursday, May 8th, at the Bicentenario stadium in Tecnopolis, we witnessed the farewell of one of the bands that left a mark on our hearts (especially on our parents’ hearts) in the 80s. Just by humming “Waiting for a Girl Like You” we would know who we were talking about. No generation can say they don’t know that great hit!
At around 9:10 pm Foreigner appeared on stage after an audience that was already beginning to applaud impatiently for the band to come on stage, Michael Bluestein (keyboard), Bruce Watson (guitar), Chris Frazier (drums), Jeff Pilson (bass) and vocalist Luis Maldonado (who is currently the voice of the band) starting with “Doble vision”, (song from their second album released in 1978).
Going through two of their biggest hits, “Cold as Ice” and “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” the band had the audience singing along to every song, their faces filled with emotion.
While the band was taking a break we had two wonderful keyboard and drum solos!

Before talking about the most anticipated moment of the night (the presence of the great Lou Gramm) we must level Luis Maldonado who has been at the height of the band with his great powerful and beautiful voice.

Now yes!! Luis with much emotion and euphoria introduces us to the great Lou Gramm who would take the stage, to try the last 4 songs. His entrance sparked a standing ovation that wasn’t just out of nostalgia: it was out of respect. Starting with the classic “Juke Box Hero”, It’s incredible how he still retains his wonderful voice.

Of course, the song that so many people had come to the show for had to come, the big hit, one of the most beautiful ballads of the 80s “I Want to Know What Love Is”, Luis Maldonado performed the first verse in Spanish, and Lou Gramm continued with all his passion, while the excited audience sang along with him.
Foreigner said goodbye to the stage in the best way possible, with tears of nostalgia and the emotion of their fans! Those who hope this isn’t truly the band’s farewell!
