Stone Temple Pilots, a touch of nineties nostalgia

May 17th, Estadio Obras

Last Saturday night, the legendary grunge band returned to Argentina after a six-year absence. Despite the heavy rain and flooding in several parts of the city, this didn’t stop Stone Temple Pilots fans from arriving at the stadium to a sold-out crowd!

Opening the evening with “Unglued” (a song from the second album “Purple”), continuing with Wicked Garden (debut album 1992), As the night progressed, the fans’ fervor grew more and more.

The group is led by brothers Dean and Robert DeLeo, the talented Dean with some dazzling riffs, Robert on bass demonstrates great professionalism.

The drums by the hand of Eric Kretz, with some powerful beats!!

We must highlight Jeff Gutt’s talent. Maybe you saw STP with Weiland on vocals and know the difference between the current show, but Gutt has been considered by many as a worthy successor to Scott Weiland.

The band played several 90s hits, such as “Wicked Garden,” “Vasoline,” and “Big Bang Baby,” then came a heavier song like “Down,” from their fourth album, which made the audience go even wilder!

Of course, the classic “Ole Ole Ole” chant was also included, and Jeff was very grateful to his fans for the love and passion they transmit to him!

They continue with ‘Silvergun Superman’, ‘Still Remains’ or ‘Big Empty’, each song of the band, was a touch of emotion for the old fans.

The finale came with the long-awaited “Sex Type Thing.”

The nostalgia for ’90s rock left the audience satisfied and happy to enjoy a band that gives its all in their live shows. With Jeff as their frontman, they made the absence of iconic vocalist Scott Weiland as little felt as possible.
