Inferno Festival: Four Days of Pure Chaos in the Heart of Oslo 

The four-day Inferno Festival in downtown Oslo, Norway, is pure chaos in its most glorious form. Spanning six venues—with the legendary Rockefeller as the main stage and John Dee downstairs—it’s a sprawling celebration of black metal. Additional stages included Goldie, Vaterland, Dattera til Hagen, Kniven, and Brewgata, each hosting one or two bands in a rotating wave of sonic assault. Oslo, one of the most stunning cities in the world and the birthplace of black metal, is the perfect backdrop for such an unrelenting festival. This year, Inferno went beyond just music with a full convention, an art exhibition, tattoo vendors, and even a black metal tour showcasing legendary spots across the city. 

This Year’s Lineup Was Brutal in the Best Way: 

Sunday: Behemoth (headliner), Tsjuder, Nagler 

Saturday: Satyricon, Rotting Christ, Aura Noir 

Friday: 1349, Septicflesh, Kylesa 

Thursday: Abbath, Batushka, Tiamat 

Also destroying the stage were Coven, Cadaver, Schammasch, Lamentari, Gaerea, Blood Incantation, Necrophobic, Dødheimsgard, and many more. In total, over two dozen bands unleashed hell. 

Highlights & Pro Tips 

Massive credit goes to the Inferno Festival crew. Everything ran smoothly—bands were on time, security kept things safe, and the chaos was controlled just enough to be enjoyable. A word of advice: get to Rockefeller and John Dee early—both fill up quickly, and you will miss out if you’re not ahead of the wave. 

Performance-wise, the standout acts were Behemoth, Abbath, and Tsjuder. Behemoth and Abbath lit up the stage—literally—with fire and fury. But Tsjuder? They stole the festival. Their set was a relentless barrage of pure black metal intensity from start to finish. 

This festival isn’t for the faint of heart. But if you ever get the chance to experience it, do it. There’s no way to truly describe the Inferno Festival—you have to witness it yourself.
