ROCK IN RIO 2022
Of course, if we talk about Rock In Rio, it sounds like a festival dedicated 100% to rock, but it is not, musicians from genres such as Pop, Punk, etc. also participate.
On Friday, September 2nd, starting in the early afternoon, at the “Cidade do Rock”, venue, we are going to the “Supernova” stage, where the local band “Crypta”, always dazzles us with their staging.
At the same time, “Palco Sunset” was starting “Metal Allegiance”, a super band formed by Chuck Billy and Alex Skolnick of Testament, Phil Demmel (ex Machine Head), Mike Portnoy, with the vocalist John Bush (ex Anthrax).
At the “Palco Mundo,” we enjoyed another local band, pioneers of thrash metal, the legendary “Sepultura”, together with the Brazilian Philharmonica very nice and original thing to see.
Returning to the “Sunset Box” we were able to enjoy the great band Living Colour, together with Steve Vai. We know that they are not a metal band, but they gave a concert at the level, playing their greatest hits, and two covers of “Rock N’ Roll” by Led Zeppelin, and “Crosstown Traffic” by Jimi Hendrix.
While the “World Stage” was waiting for the great French of “Gojira”, As we could not expect anything less from them, they gave us a show full of energy, with a setlist featuring songs from their recently released album “Fortitude”, and all their iconic hits.
In the “Sunset Box,” we were able to enjoy a bit of MetalCore, by the hand of “Bullet for My Valentine”
Culminating this great rock day, two great bands were about to arrive at the “Palco Mundo” which would blow our minds and make this night an unforgettable evening. Iron Maiden took the stage with all their power, continuing with their “Legacy of The Beast World Tour”, of course with a very varied setlist, and going through their greatest hits such as “The Trooper”, “Aces High” (with a huge World War II plane flying over the stage).
While they quickly dismantled the stage to set up the stage for the band that would close the night, we had a moment to rest a little and regain energy for something magical that was about to come.
The legendary Dream Theater appeared on stage, with a short set of only 7 songs but with great power in each one of them, making them endless and enjoyable.
All that remains to say is that it has been a magnificent day of rock at this Rock in Rio, leaving us looking forward to the next one in 2024!
