“Saxon” 50 years rocking the world
Last Monday, November 20, I had the pleasure to cover the show of the Legendary English band SAXON, with more than 50 years old career, at the Teatro Flores, Argentina.
Opening the evening was the band RETROSATÁN, an Argentine Heavy Metal band formed in 1983, presented their current album released this 2023 “Juegos Diabólicos”, with 40 years of career the band still sounds incredibly good!
Continuing The Heavy Metal band from Ecuador, currently based in the USA, MADZILLA, was the support band during the Saxon tour from Latin America, their professionalism on stage shows why they were chosen.
Now the awaited moment came!! As the intro music blared through the speakers, SAXON took to the stage, led by frontman Biff Byford, and launched into “Carpe Diem,” the title track from their latest album. Byford’s voice was as powerful as ever, As the set progressed, Saxon delved into their extensive back catalog, playing classics like “Strong Arm of the Law,” and “Crusader.” The crowd went wild, moshing, singing all the songs! The first of the jackets landed on the stage. And Biff took it and wore it! Something to note is that the venue was full and there were several generations of metalbangers present.
They usually close with their signature anthem, “Denim and Leather” and “Princess Of The Night”. But this time the band gave us a plus, closing the night with “Strong Arm of The Law”.
Saxons may be getting older, but they still have the fire and passion that made them legends in the first place.
