Cellos that roar like guitars: This was the brutal Apocalyptica concert in Argentina
Apocalyptica returned to Argentina as part of their “Plays Metallica Vol. 2” world tour, demonstrating that the formula they pioneered three decades ago blending the sophistication of the cello with the raw intensity of thrash metal remains more vibrant, mature, and powerful than ever.
When Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lötjönen, and the relentless drummer Mikko Sirén took the stage, the audience went wild at the very first chords of “Ride the Lightning.”
The concert journeyed through the most iconic moments of Metallica’s discography. Undisputed classics like “Master of Puppets” and the deeply moving anthem “Nothing Else Matters” sparked massive sing-alongs that echoed throughout the venue. The night reached its climax toward the end with a superb performance of “One,” in which the band fused melodic beauty with sonic aggression a rendition that left the crowd’s energy at an all-time high.
