“Corazón Fuego” Interview
With the inactivity of two of the most influential hardcore bands in South America—D.A.J. and B.O.D.—and with four albums under their belt, Corazón Fuego emerges with the purpose of keeping alive the memory and musical legacy of these genre icons. In addition to performing their most emblematic songs, the band also plans to compose new material as they continue on their path.
SUNRAY: Hi guys! How are you doing? Can you tell us a bit more about how Corazón Fuego came to be?
CF: Hi! The idea for Corazón Fuego came from the desire to keep playing songs from DAJ and BOD. Since both bands are currently inactive due to the geographical distance between their members, Gianni (guitar), Chulo (bass), and I—being the only ones still in the same area—came up with the idea to form Corazón Fuego. We invited Leila (vocals) and Coco (drums) (ITA, 90raices, Indiferencia, Hueso), and we started putting the band together.
SUNRAY: The connection between the members of D.A.J. and B.O.D. goes beyond music—there’s also a personal bond, since both bands share roots in the same neighborhood and life experiences. How does it feel to share this new project?
CF: It’s true, these are sister bands—not only because of where they came from and their musical style but also because of shared life experiences going back to high school. Being able to continue playing music that was written more than 30 years ago is a source of pride. Doing it now with Corazón Fuego feels like being with family—especially since the vocalist and drummer are more than just friends.
SUNRAY: What motivated you to include a female voice in the project, and why specifically choose Leila Acosta for the role?
CF: Leila is the singer of Fuera del Tiempo, a Punk Rock band from the mountains of Córdoba, a band we also play in. It felt natural—she´s my partner and has lived through the entire DAJ journey: she was in the crowd, came to rehearsals, and was part of the core team behind the band´s several comebacks. We really like having a female voice both leading and contributing to songwriting.
SUNRAY: You’ll be playing at “C.C. Bula” on April 27th—can you give us a preview of what that night will be like?
CF: It’ll be an evening full of singing and dancing to songs from both bands in one, sharing a space of brotherhood between long-time hardcore fans and a new generation that keeps the fire alive.
SUNRAY: Which songs from both bands are a must for the setlist?
CF: There are quite a few songs to choose from, but some that definitely make the cut are: “Épocas muy buenas”, “Uno de los nuestros”, “BAHC”, and “Freezer”…
SUNRAY: What are your immediate future plans?
CF: Play in different cities, demo some upcoming productions that we’ll gradually include alongside the classic BOD and DAJ songs we’ll never stop performing.

Con la inactividad de dos de las bandas más influyentes del hardcore en Sudamérica; D.A.J. y B.O.D. y con cuatro discos en su haber, Corazón Fuego surge con el propósito de mantener viva la memoria y el legado musical de estos referentes del género.
Además de interpretar sus canciones más emblemáticas, la banda también proyecta componer nuevo material a medida que avanza en su recorrido.
SUNRAY: ¡Hola chicos! ¿Cómo están? ¿Nos pueden contar un poco más acerca de cómo surge Corazón Fuego?
CF: ¡Hola! la idea de Corazón Fuego surge de las ganas de seguir tocando los temas de DAJ y BOD y al estar los 2 bandas inactivas por razones de distancia de cada uno de los integrantes, se nos ocurrió con Gianni (guitarra) y Chulo (bajo) siendo los únicos que estamos en la misma zona, formar Corazón Fuego. Le propusimos a Leila (voz) y a Coco (batería) (ITA, 90raices, Indiferencia, Hueso) y empezamos a cranear la banda.
SUNRAY: La relación entre los miembros de D.A.J. y B.O.D. no es solo musical, sino también personal, ya que ambas bandas comparten raíces en el mismo barrio y vivencias. ¿Cómo se sienten al compartir este proyecto?
CF: es verdad, son bandas hermanas, no solo por el lugar de origen y estilo musical, sino por compartir vivencias desde el secundario…Poder seguir haciendo la música que fue compuesta hace más de 30 años es un orgullo y llevarla a cabo ahora con Corazón Fuego que sigue siendo una familia por que la voz y la batería son más que amigxs.
SUNRAY: ¿Qué los motivó a sumar una voz femenina al proyecto y, en particular, a elegir a la cantante Leila Acosta para ese rol?
CF: Leila es la cantante de Fuera del Tiempo, una banda de PunkRock de las sierras cordobesas, banda que compartimos. Es natural para nosotros, ya que ella es mi compañera y vivió todo el proceso de DAJ, desde estar en el público, ir a ensayos, estar en el núcleo de la producción en los reiterados regresos de la banda, etc. Nos gustan las voces femeninas al frente y en la composición.
SUNRAY: El próximo 27 de Abril se estarán presentando en “C.C. Bula”, ¿nos pueden adelantar un poco de lo que será esa noche?
CF: Será una tarde/noche para cantar y bailar los temas de estas 2 bandas en 1, compartir un espacio de fraternidad entre público que viene aguantando el HC desde los principios y el público joven que sigue alimentando la llama
SUNRAY: ¿Qué canciones de ambas bandas no pueden faltar?
CF: Son bastantes las canciones que hay para elegir y armar la lista pero algunas pueden ser “Épocas muy buenas” “Uno de los nuestros” “BAHC” “Freezer”…
SUNRAY: Qué proyectos a futuro inmediato tienen?
CF: Tocar en diferentes ciudades, maquetear próximas producciones que vamos a ir metiendo en las listas de los clásicos de BOD y DAJ que nunca dejaremos de hacer.
