KALEO In Argentina, a night with full hats and blues rock!

Tuesday April 15 th C Complejo Art Media

Kaleo returned to Argentina for the second time (their first visit was at the Lollapalooza festival) this time with their show at C Complejo Art Media, with Payback Tour.
Kaleo, formed in Reykjavík, Iceland, burst onto the global scene in 2016 with their album A/B, a record that blended rock, blues, and soul. Their name, ‘KALEO,’ is derived from the Hawaiian word for ‘the voice’ or ‘the sound’, and without a doubt, JJ Julius Son lives up to the band’s name with that wonderful and unique voice.

It was 9 p.m., and the lights went out. To start a wonderful night, Kaleo took the stage, starting with “USA Today,” the song that gives its name to the band’s new album.

Halfway through the set, they played ‘Hey Gringo’, a fan favorite, where we could see the fervor of their fans chanting and jumping with full excitement.

The band also performed ‘Vor í Vaglaskógi’ (Spring in Vaglaskogur), a song particularly significant as it was written and performed in their native Icelandic.

Throughout the evening, JJ Julius Son, Rubin Pollock, Daniel Kristjansson, and David Antonsson took the audience on a sonic journey through their discography.

Their most famous song could not be missed, so “Way Down We Go” was played almost at the end of their performance, the track that catapulted them to international fame was a clear favorite among the crowd.

After a short break, the band closed the set with ‘No Good’, which earned them a Grammy nomination for “Best Rock Performance.” But… they weren’t quite finished, JJ Julius Son said “Una Mas” and began the much-sung song of their new release ‘Rock N Roller’,  With a mosh pit full of euphoria and power!

The lighting, setlist, and the energy of both the band and the audience, made an unforgettable night.
